1. Excellent High Temperature Oxidation Resistance – Continuous service up to 1093°C (2000°F), intermittent up to 1177°C (2150°F).

3. Resistance to Chloride Stress Corrosion Cracking – Outperforms 300 series stainless steels in chloride environments.

5. Excellent Mechanical Properties at Cryogenic Temperatures – Retains ductility and impact strength down to -196°C.

Metallurgical Structure

Alloy 600 is a nickel-chromium solid solution strengthened alloy with an austenitic structure. It does not undergo a ductile-to-brittle transition, making it ideal for cryogenic and high temperature applications. The alloy remains non-magnetic and retains excellent fatigue resistance.

Corrosion Resistance

Alloy 600 offers superior resistance to oxidizing and reducing environments compared to stainless steels.

• Excellent resistance to caustic alkalis (sodium and potassium hydroxide).

• Good resistance to organic acids (acetic, formic, stearic).

• Resists dry chlorine and hydrogen chloride at elevated temperatures.

• Limited resistance in strongly reducing sulfur-bearing atmospheres.
